OK I've finally come to the 'end of my tether!!' :Argh:
I'll be honest, I haven't played my PS3 for about the past 2 months. Finally this week I switched it on to play my favourite game Gran Turismo 5. Before I could play I noticed there was a system update to the PS3, so I ran the system update - everything seemed fine.
Put Gran Turismo 5 disk in, and it asks to perform another update to version 1.12. I actually think that during the last two months there has been a 1.10 and 1.11 update. If I don't do this then I can't play online, or get access to the new features in the game. So I go to run this update but nothing really happens. The most I've been able to download of approx. 300mb is 17% of the update, and then it hangs. I'm then getting "An error occurred during the download..... error 80710723 ", amongst other random errors.
I've tried and tried but I'm not getting very far, only very frustrated. I've switched the wireless hub off and back on but to no avail. I have wireless access to the PS3, can sign in, and access the store.
What's going on???? I also tried to play Call of Duty Black Ops and have the same issue.
Any thoughts? Is it just me?
Your best plan to recovery will be to, back up your game progress, delete all game updates, hook the console up with a cable, then re-update GT 5.
Many thanks for your quick reply
However problem over, everything updating like a dream this morning. After several hours of frustration yesterday you now wouldn't believe there was ever a problem.
Thanks again though.
You're welcome.
I just hope your update is successful.
Welcome to the GT forum, zombie_deathclaw!
That will depend on exactly what kind of error you are getting.
If you get an error number, post it here.
If there is other text, copy it here, too.
If the download file is getting corrupted by your friend's ISP (a common problem), then the easiest solution is to find another cooperative friend to help you.
Apparently, that error number refers to a network error and the instructions to deal with it are in this post.
One advantage of using these instructions is that you get to use openDNS' better DNS servers permanently, with the PS3.

So, from that I take it that those instructions worked? :Music:
