While we had an unexpected issue with server access recently, I decided to put my down-time to good use.
I experimented with how playing offline (without access to the GT servers) works when later re-establishing connection for an online save, and also maintaining the progress you have made while offline.
My test evolved around the new GT League.
A Campaign Mode I had yet to take part in.
So here's how I went about ensuring what i did offline was carried over to my online save.
First, and most importantly, I had to set-up my PS4 so it did as I wanted it to.
You will need to access one of the XMB menus and turn on an important function.
So on the XMB, go to "Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode".
Here you will find this screen.
You will need to tick the "Keep Application Suspended" option.
Once you are done there, that's it.
Play the game in an offline mode.
Be that GT League, Arcade, Liveries, etc.
I chose to race in some of the early GT League Beginners races.
The key from this point forward is to not close the GT Sport App.
Simply put your PS4 straight into Rest Mode when you have finished playing.
When you decide you want to play again, switching on the PS4 means GT Sport is still active.
"Start" the game and you should be exactly where you left it.
Use the "Reconnect" button ingame to gain access to the GT servers.
Once connected you will receive 2 messages.
The last of which will be "Save data has been saved to the server".
All Credits, Experience, etc you earned offline will now be on your online save and you are good to go.
I see this mentioned as one of the notifications, but while it was down the just repeated a few arcade races to get a quick fix until it was fixed.
Its a shame it can't be saved locally too and then just sync later when the servers are back online.
Hi guys!!! My brother bought the game (cd). The problem is that he has no internet, and he cant save all the progress he 's done..can you save without internet? is there a way?? please help me!!!!!
I hate to be the one to break this news to you, but the answer is: no, you can't. The game uses on-live saving for your game progress. Only settings and some other data are saved locally.@diesa_135
I am surprised this isn't obvious to everyone. I thought about making a post, but thought, nah, it's obvious, people will know it already! Turn out I was wrong. WAY wrong. Maybe I'm just cleverer than the vast majority of people, I don't know.
bro that's great since psn was down i have been bumping into errors in GTSPORT i have earned a trophy (Welcome to the green hell) that hasnt appeared in my trophies and now i cant even log in on the GTSPORT server (error code NP-32470-6) any idea what to do ?
PSN is having a few issues at the moment. Which is being worked on by engineers. You'll have to try manually reconnect to the servers. Hopefully it isn't too long until fix.
I had server disconnection error. And was able to get back in after 20 minutes.
You can keep an eye on PSN status here > https://status.playstation.com/en-gb/@pg3tsdap01nt
I had lost my connection for a day, but still played offline. My PS4 has been in rest mode in between. In my downtime I tried connection by mobile hotspot but that did not work, as it gave me a (very hard to change) NAT 3 and I feel like that gave me saving issues.
Well, yay! Got my normal wifi again! Back to NAT 2 and I tried using the reconnect button. Unfortunately, the game will not reconnect.
This is the most horrible (lack of) functionality I have ever seen in any program, but either way I need to find a solution so I won't lose my hard earned rewards and progress.
Has anyone seen this before?
Due to server issue this morning I experienced a hard crash. On reconnect, I lost my ENTIRE garage. Nothing I could do as soon as I connected it synchronized with server and BOOM MONTHS of progress and collecting GONE. I tried a manual recovery, and nothing. Thanks for the shoddy programming Polyphony.
