It seems that the GT6 updating errors are being caused by players not updating for longer periods of time. Those who keep up with updates seem to have less problems. The following instructions are being recommended to deal with updating errors.
PDI is looking to see if these instructions can be further simplified.
Although fairly complex, this worked every time.

I replaced the HDD on my PS3 with a SSD and started installing GT6 from scratch and the updates one at a time. Went well until 1.06 which installed and I was able to play a game. Downloaded and installed 1.07 through the XMB menu and fired up the game, and it started the in game patcher.
Been showing an approximate time of 30 minutes for the last two hours. Is there any hope of finding a solution to this problem?
@fullerms From a user to user, I don't think there is much hope. We tried to do updates for a long (too long) time, without success. If the game WAS able to run the 1.07 patch successfully, it always hung on the 1.10 update.
All in all, it wouldn't be too bad if it only updated to 1.06 and was playable. But on 1.06 we have too many glitches, certain tracks don't load, freezes, etc. These are things we NEVER had on 1.22.
In our little piece of the world, we have all but given up on GT6, which is really too bad as it was an awesome game!
I think we are experiencing the "benefits" of Agile Software development which is defined as
Incremental Screw ups instead of one monumental ***** up
@MastrGT Hello, I have been trying for about A MONTH now to install GT6 on 2 different PS3's, and also trying 2 different hard drives and a brand new 240gb SSD. I've cleaned my, already pristine, disc (and laser on the super-slim). I've replaced both my ethernet cable and coaxial cable with new ones for my wired cable internet connection. I've tried over a dozen times to install using your instructions, which I feel are well written and easy to understand. I've read all 11 pages of comments in this post. I went and bought the second ps3, based on your comment earlier that a different ps3 would solve the issue. But it didn't. All of my updates are failing installing at 1.10 (like many other people). You've said not to lose hope, but what do you suggest I do that I haven't already? Most people have said that a second ISP didn't help, and I don't have access to one anyway. My internet is good and solid typically.
FYI: I do this:
-format hard drive
-Download and install the first 6 updates through the XMB
-open GT6 and let it install "in-game"
-save and exit
-then repeat the process but only one update at a time
****crash going from 1.09 to 1.10 during "in-game" install****
I realize this has been discussed already in-length, but I haven't read anyone trying as many things as I have and still failing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
At the moment, you can't do anything different to install GT6.
Iinquired about if anyone had looked at this issue, but they have not. I will try again and remind them that this is not the way the console environment is supposed to work, but it is still up to them to devote resources to fix it.@WCPT
