Ever since I got my PS4 pro I’ve been noticing that it keeps dropping connection to the internet.
At first I was using it wirelessly because I couldn’t really be bothered laying a LAN cable to my router and was accepting of slower speeds, but it kept dropping connection.
I would be watching YouTube and the video would buffer, I would then press the PS button and would get a message saying it had lost connection to the server.
The only way to fix that was to run the ‘Test connection’ in network settings.
This is happening constantly which renders using my PS4 for anything other than offline play useless
I then laid a LAN cable to my router and thought the problem would go away although it started again. Although this time it would not complete the test connection and I would have to reboot my PS4.
I have wiped the system and performed a database rebuild which did not work.
I know this issue is somewhere on the PS4 side be that the hardware or firmware because everything else on my network runs as it should
I’ve been reading some forums and it looks like a lot of people are having this issue. I’m undecided on what to do, take the PS4 back for a replacement? Wait to see if it’s a firmware issue and it to be fixed?
Is anyone else having this problem?
I do have the same issue. I have good internet speed around 250 mbps and I am always getting this “lan cable not connected”.
Sony fix this problem.
Have you tried a different ethernet cable or a different port on your router?@madwarior
I suggest getting a good quality cat 6 ethernet cable and going direct from router to playstation
if that is not an option then go to the router and set the wireless broadcast channels to randomise, it could be someone has something interfering with it.
baby monitors, wireless doorbells, wireless cameras etc are all popular nowadays and have the ability to mess up wireless connections.
You don't need CAT6 for short Ethernet drops. CAT5 will do fine unless you're running the drop in the hundreds of feet.@anubis_sg1
I’m haveing the same issue what should we do this really sucks
I just traded my ps4 for a PS4 pro today... I am having the same issues. I’ve initialized the ps4 as well. We have two other ps4 in the house and they work perfectly. I am actually closer to the WiFi router than the other two. Every 2- 3 mins I am disconnected and I have to run a connection test to get internet back just for it to disconnect again... I’ve also tried plugging it in to the Ethernet and I am having the same issue as you. I’m wondering if this trade in was a terrible mistake as I see lots of other people with the same problem. I’m going to go back the the store I bought it from and try it on their WiFi to make sure it is the ps4 pro is the one that is messed up
I'm having this issue also. Will transferring my ps4 stuff to my pro fix this because it is very irritating to have such an expensive unreliable console
I'm having the exact same issue. I thought it was my internet because of some other forum saying the ports need to be opened or whatever. Was on the phone with my ISP for several hours yesterday and he said everything on his end is fine so it must be something with the PS4. Still no clue how to fix it.
Have you opened ports or switched to wired connection if connecting wireless?
It's not PlayStations end like many others I sign in and stay signed without any problems, I have opened ports in the past when necessary but with my current router and setup I don't need to.@NewbTaco27
I can't do wired, router and TV are in different rooms but the signal strength says 100% so I'm not really worried about that. I talked through with my ISP and they opened ports, I tried doing it myself per someone's instructions on a different thread and it didn't work. Guy said he opened up the ports and he does it for psn all the time and we sat there and quadruple checked it for hours and still nothing. It'll all be fine for 2-5 min then drop the connection so I go and test the connection and it says its fine. Back out of the settings and everything is working again for 2-5 min, rinse and repeat.@mont348
I'm going to bless you guys with this information, i had this issue for a while and the only thing that helped was a ethernet cable. I did some research and long story short disable the 5ghz from your router and i promise this will fix your issue. Ps4 pro gives the option of 2.4 ghz and 5,but works best on 2.4. Google on how time change frequency and Good luck@NewbTaco27
I have found the potential solution that has worked for me!
1. In your PS4 wifi settings switch to 5ghz/2,4ghz only, this will privent your PS4 from choosing different wifi.
2. Set the static ip for your PS4 on your wifi, this will make your connection more stable I believe.
3. Open ports given as Sony recommends. These are:
« Try opening the following ports on your router, then let us know if it solved the problem.
TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480
UDP: 3478, 3479 »
this worked for me, so hopefully you find it helpful.
P.S. How to do each step is unique for routers so google how to do that for your router.
My PS4 Pro I got in August just started getting this issue. I’m pretty sure it’s my PS4 it keeps disconnecting the lan and reconnecting it back 2 sec later. Is there a fix?
Have yall found a fix to this i just got my ps4 pro
Just recently started having this issue with my PS4 Pro. Hopefully there will be a fix somehow or I'm replacing my PS4 Pro to a new one soon. Literally tried everything to fix the problem and nothing has worked .
I replace mine 2 times still does the same@xxDomenixx
Wonder what the issue is then, I've never had this problem before the new system update came out. I had the same PS4 Pro for about a year or so now never had a problem with it till now.@kevin12770
Having the same problem for almost a month now on my PS4 Pro. I've tried:
- Disabling 5ghz wireless on my router settings
- Preventing the PS4 from selecting 5ghz wireless
- Running a wired connection
The problem still persists. On the console's home screen, I often find myself selecting either a game or something else (like the "What's New" or "PS Store" icons) and seeing the section below (where you normally see the game trophy information or your friends activity if you're selecting the "What's New" section) constantly trying to load with nothing coming up.
On FIFA18, I'm also constantly losing connection to the EA servers, which is something that never happened before.
My internet speed is also quite good and I have this problem with none of my other devices. I've contacted my ISP 3 times now and they say there doesn't seem to be anything wrong on their end. They suggested I try running a wired connection but, as I mentioned above, I've tried that and the problem still persisted. I don't know if this might have something to do with the console's latest update or not but I only started noticing this issue last month.
