The Gathering Hall - Information

The Gathering Hall

 Information!

Well - there's been a whole plethora of questions surrouning the Gathering Hall for Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite. So we've put together this thread to give you everything you need to know to get down there and bash some baddies.

What is it?

It's a real life gaming venue. The Gathering Hall is a place for Monster Hunter players to meet, greet and bash monsters together :)

It's also air-conditioned, and has very lovely staff. If you're eager to find out more - read this thread!

Where is it?

It's in central London, and is ridiculously easy to find:

112 Charing Cross Road,

London,

WC2H 0EW

Google Maps.

When's it open!?

Monday 10am-8pm
Tuesday 10am-8pm
Wednesday 10am-8pm

Thursday 10am-10pm

Friday 12pm-10pm
Saturday 12pm-10pm
Sunday 10am-8pm

How long will it be there?

The Gathering Hall is open untill Sunday 30th August - there'll be a big party on closing day, but we'll hopefully have more on that soon.

How do I get in?

You will need:

1. A PlayStation Portable

2. A Copy of Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite

3. Official Firmware. Sorry, but if you're a dirty pirate they wont let you in. If you have a disc version, all you need to do is show them the disc. If you've downloaded from the PlayStation Store, you'll need to flash the staff your PSP so they can check you're not ripping them off :)

(You might also want to bring your PSP charger!)

Anything special going on?

Definitely :)

Each and every Thursday is Tutorial day - jump in for hints and tips for all levels of player from the pros.

Each Wednesday is Challenge Day - Win prizes for completing challenges!

On August 16th - Monster Hunter producer Ryozu Tsujimoto will visit the Gathering Hall! A very, very rare chance to meet him and bombard him with questions :D

I'm HR level 9 and have better armour than you... what am I gonna get out of The Gathering Hall?

Two things -

1. The chance to share your knowledge. The Gathering Hall is a great place for newbies to get into the game, you can help them out just by taking them on a quest!

2. At The Gathering Hall - you can access special downloadable quests which cannot be accessed anywhere else. They're hard. Really hard.

I want to whack MB with a big dirty axe. When can I do that?

The Official PlayStation Community is plotting to invade The Gathering Hall on Thursday 13th August ..., we'll be mostly taking part in a tutorial night - but yes, MB will be there and it'll be a good chance to whack him with that Axe of yours...

More info soon!

Much love,

MB :)

If only Capcom had put as much effort into the initial EU release of Monster Hunter on PS2, which had a proper online mode. That is where this game truly shines...

And why oh why are there no plans for Sony to bring this awesome bit of software to territories other than Japan? Is Japan the only country that likes to play ad-hoc games online?

But failing both those, the Gathering Hall is a great idea. I still maintain an online server or two would be cheaper though ;)

There are plans - the US recently copywrote the name for the software.

I'm trying very hard to get some info on Ad-Hoc Party's EU release - sit tight :D

That is awesome news, thanks. Saves me the headache of setting up a Japanese account...

The only downside I can see now is that I will need 2 TVs - one for PS3 and one for PSP Lite (which, if you haven't tried it, looks awesome BTW).

Well, I am will be heading down to London tomorrow morning from up north. Will try and pop in over the weekend and definitely on Sunday to meet Ryozu Tsujimoto.

Still not had chance to spend much time on MHF:Unite, been spending more on MHF1. Not used my PSP for group play aside online with Killzone, SOCOM, etc - so gonna be a little odd lol.

Anyways, if anyone is heading there, I'll try to say hi - I'll be one of the oldsters there (well not too old).

With all due respect, I think you've slightly misunderstood and the actuality is better than what I think you think it is (err, I just confused myself - it is Monday...)

Ad-Hoc party turns your PS3 into a knid of internet portal for the PSP's local wireless, so it can fool the PSP into thinking that other players over the internet are in your lounge :)

It means you didn't waste all that time collecting weapons and armour, it just means you can strut around in it being heralded as a hero by noobs as you down their 3* Rathalos in about 5 minutes lol.

EDIT: ...or maybe I've misunderstood you, and you're just showing support for a PS3 version...? Oops, if so.

Well, you can still use an ethernet bridge to solve your problem - doesn't require any changes to the wireless router configuration. It's just a device that will do the wireless for you and let your PS3 connect via wired. Normally I wouldn't condone sponging, but if people are too stupid to password their networks... ;)
