I rented a movie and when I try to play it it says network unavailable. I believe it is because I am in japan and the PlayStation was purchased in the USA. I also pre ordered two games and want to make sure I will be able to play them when they are released. Thank you. What are my options?
It doesn't matter where the console unless it was purchased in China.
It's the account that will be the problem for example if you have a US or UK PSN account you will only be able to view a rented movie if you reside in these countries, if you live outside those countries IP and geographical restrictions will block the video stream, same rules also apply to the PlayStation Now service.
So the only option will be for me to get a refund? Will I have any issues with pre-ordered games?
@mont348Games won't be a problem but if you are indeed blocked for location reasons for the video rental just seek a refund.
@babjak89
Yeah but they charge you all the same. I want my money back! If they know enough to block the content then they are smart enough not to charge you and tell you can't watch it in the region your in! That's a crappy way of doing business if you want repeat customers. So they have forums to do their work instead of offering real customer service.
@mont348
I just rented a movie and we keep getting the Network Unavailable?? I did a test on our connection and it is good.
I rented a movie (Infinity War) and payment was taken from my account - but when I went to watch it, I got this message; "This Video is un available - some videos aren't available based on criteria like region or age".
Is this a bug???? I want a refund as this service is pitiful.
Video rentals and purchases are blocked by IP address if your account is from a different country than the one you actually reside in. If you live in the Middle East and your account is US for example you will not be able to view the movies.
@CHATOMELIif they're going to block viewing it, they should block the payment as well. unless they're trying to rip people off...
