PlayStation Now, the pioneering game streaming service that leverages cloud-based technology to stream PlayStation 3 games over the internet is now in open beta in the UK!

PS Now puts epic adventures, iconic characters and incredible PS3 games at your fingertips. Play without needing to wait for downloads, updates or installs or make a trip to the shops.

To enjoy PS Now you’ll need a Sony Entertainment Network account, an accepted payment method, Dualshock 4 or Dualshock 3 wireless controller, a PS4 or selected compatible Sony device* and a broadband internet connection (minimum 5mbps recommended).

During the open beta, games will initially be offered for rental only, with a subscription service following later this summer. We are also looking to bring PS Now to more devices including PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV later in the year.

During the open beta there will be a wide selection of games available covering a host of genres and publishers. These will initially be available on two or 30 day rentals and range from £2.99 to £7.99 (pricing of individual games will vary according to the title in question).

Titles that you’ll be able to enjoy during the open beta include Bioshock Infinite, Final Fantasy XIII, Tomb Raider Underworld, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge with many more titles available**.

PS Now is available on the PS4™ console Store, find out more here.

*The PS Now open beta trial will be available on PS4 and select Sony Bravia TVs:
Day 1 – 2015 Series: X94C, X93C, X90C, S85C, S80C, X85C, X83C, W85C, W80C, W75C, W70C Series
Later date – 2014 Series: X95B, X90B, S90B, X85B, W95B, W85B, W80B, W70B, W60B, W58B Series
Sony Blu-ray Players

Day 1 – 2015 Series: BDP-S6500, BDP-S5500, BDP-S4500, BDP-S3500, BDP-S1500

**Games included in the open beta won’t necessarily represent what’s offered in the full PS Now service, and may change during the beta trial.

2.99 and 7.99 is very expensive and you know it. Microsoft offer their backwards compatibility service for free! I think its time sony should do the same..

Backwards compatibility and PS Now completely two different things tbh.

I'm guessing none of you ever rented games from blockbuster? £5 for 2 nights. £8 for 30 days is alright.

They run almost as well as the discs too.

Tbh 7.99 isn't that much really, the games they have on offer will be more expensive at CEX.

Plus, it's streamed on your PS4, great if you don't own that PS3 you traded in.

No clutter, get the trophies then delete once finished.

Worth it if you are going to put the effort it for the 30 days. Who knows might even have great offers on it. Once it's fully going.

Just my view on it.

Yeah, it's perfect for people like me who never had a PS3. I missed out on a load of games so I might actually get to play them now.

You're missing the point somewhat.  You don't need to own the games on psnow to play them. You need the disc to enjoy microsofts BC.

Hello to all ive recently returned to playstation from xbox 360 and now have a vita.i think this service is an excellent idea from sony especially since the fact the vita won't be getting any more aaa games.i rented a game for 30 days and cant believe how well the game responds given its all done through the internet.

the only thing I would like to see from sony is a subscription thats monthly at a reasonable price here in the uk, I would happily pay £20 a month to play all these games from ps3.i just hope that this service continues to grow and expand especially for us vita owners.

please sony don't rip us brits off,

20 pounds is well worth it.

It would be cheaper to just buy the games on eBay/Amazon than £20/month + £2.99/£7.99 for something you don't keep.

Can Sony explain why we are being charged for ps3 titles that have been purchased already.

Is the charge for Sony Now for streaming the titles to our consoles or are Sony to lazy to create an emulator app.

We were promised for the PSVITA streaming on PS3 games, now we are told that we have to pay for the same games that have been purchased over the past 7 years of PS3 titles.

You should only charge for games that the customer has not purchased at all, i have a backlog of PS3 titles that you wish me to pay for because of a streaming programme.

So in fact you want me to rent a ps3 game which i have on disc to be able to play on my PSVITA.

You bought PS3 games to play on a PS3, at no point when you bought it did it day they were for any other console.

It'd be brilliant if Sony made purchased titles available to stream on PS4 and Vita at no extra cost, but it's certainly not something customers are entitled to.

Just checked it out in the store (Saw it before, and sort of just went passed it). Nothing in there worth getting and £2.99 and £7.99 is too high if it streams and I don't get to keep it. Try again.

It would, but they don't have a PS3, so this is the best opportunity they have to play Sony exclusives. It's still in the beta stage, I fully expect a subscription model to be added when it official goes live. Most people are complaining the price is too high, and I agree. I also think £20 a month is too much, I'd say £10-15 is more realistic.

ps now has nothing to offer in my view, i took up the 7 day trial and 5 games being sold at full price, a bunch of indie games and lots of failed games that obviouly need help! the only decent games there are bioshock infinite and last of us!

both of which everyone has played!!

rock bottom offers that no-one will buy sony!

sorry

edit:- i laughed at £49.99 for bioshock too, its £12.99 new at local shop
