Currently having a problem trying to redeem a £20 PSN Card onto my account that has £3 already in the account. The code is genuine as the store accepts the code but as soon as I go to accept the code and apply it to the account I get this message.

any help would be helpful as it is just an inconvenience and I would like to see it solved as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Your wallet can hold a maximum of £120.00. If the value of the top-up voucher has caused your wallet balance to exceed the maximum amount, it will not be accepted.

If you aren't at the limit and still receive this error, follow these steps:

  • Double check that the code has been entered correctly.
  • Check the date on the voucher. It is possible that it has expired or is not yet available.
  • The voucher code must be for the same region as your PSN account. If you have a physical card, look for a printed flag indicating its country.
  • If you do not know the region of your account, sign in to SEN Account Management online, select “Account” > “Account Details” and look at the country/region section at the bottom of the page.
  • You can only use a voucher code once. To check the transaction history of your account, sign in to Account Management. If already used, the voucher code will appear in the transaction details section.

If your voucher meets the requirements and you are still receiving this error code, visit the Redeeming a Voucher support article for more troubleshooting and PlayStation Support contact details.

Can't redeem a voucher (from link above)

Important information

  • Every PSN voucher code contains twelve digits. Any code with a different number of digits will not be accepted by the PS Store.
  • If you have a voucher with a silver panel covering the code, it needs to be scratched off with a coin. Don't peel it off — this can damage the code printed underneath and make it unreadable.
  • The voucher code must be for the same region as your account. If you have a physical card, look for a printed flag indicating its country.
  • If you do not know the region of your account, sign in to Account Management online, select “Account” > “Account Details” and look at the country/region section at the bottom of the page.
  • You can only use a voucher code once. To check the transaction history of your account, sign in to Account Management online. If already used, the voucher code will appear in the transaction details section.
  • It is not possible to transfer funds or content between accounts, so make sure to redeem your code on the right account.

Using a voucher code if you're under 18

If you are under 18, your child account does not have a PlayStation Store wallet associated with it. This means that:

  • You won’t be able redeem a wallet top-up voucher code on your account. If you want to use a wallet top-up voucher code, the Family Manager can redeem it on their account. They will then need to set up a Monthly Spending Limit, which will allow you to spend the funds from their wallet.
  • Voucher codes for PlayStation Plus 3 and 12 month memberships can be redeemed on your account, but the subscription benefits such as Monthly Games and online multiplayer will be limited by age ratings and the parental controls set on your account. For this reason, we recommend that PlayStation Plus vouchers are only redeemed on the associated family manager/master account.

Also, check your wallet to make sure it hasn't actually already been added.

If it has, you'll get the code when you try to use it again after it's already been redeemed.
