Please make sure you're using the HDMI supplied with your PSVR to connect your PS4 to your processor unit, not your processor unit to your TV.

It may sound obvious, but double check that you have the HDMI cables connected in the right way round on the back of the processor unit. If they're definitely correct, try unplugging the headset extension cable and plug your headset directly into the processor unit, and let me know if it works.
If these don't work, disconnect the HDMI cable between your PS4 and processor unit (but keep everything else plugged in) and connect your PS4 directly into your TV. Then make sure that both the PS4 and the PSVR firmware are updated to the latest version, then plug the HDMI back into the processor unit and see if it works.
Keep me posted!
I’ve also recently had this problem with the x and the hdmi in the box and it only just started happening once the new update came out for the ps vr. It was working fine before the update and now that’s all I get whenever I try to play any vr games...@KingGobbo
I just got I VR for Christmas and I plug everything in correct I watched the videos by Playstation so I power it on nothing shows on my tv so I put on my VR and it shows
a hdmi symbol with a X next to it I tried everything but nothing worked@KingGobbo
Having same issue. Whenever I try to run a VR game it starts displaying HDMI error the one you mentioned.
Hi I have the same issue with my VR headset as well, after having to take the first one back due to a fault in one of the cables, but it still have the same problem as the fellow above (X with a HDMI in a box).
After contacting playstation on the phone with the first headset they said it was a HDMI cable issue, then when I received the second VR I set it up only to find that it too displayed the same HDMI X in a box symbol, called playstation again where we had quite a long talk trying several ways again to fix the problem but in the end it was explained to me that although this has not been a big problem there are some consoles that have a problem inside of them (no particular models) unfortunately there is no fix a the present moment we are awaiting head office to decide whether or not this a playstation problem or something that I will have to pay for to get fixed myself.
I have the same problem and I went to Sony and they said my PS4 hdmi was broken I think you've got the same problem and when I asked the man it's working from tv to PS4 he said that it's working but not 100% I think you should see your hdmi port I hope I helped you
My son has playstation 4 vr on setting it up I have discovered there is only 1 hdmi connection at the back of the PS4, this is being used to show my PS4 and tv output. The VR setup instructions say Plug one end of the HDMi cable into the back of your PS4 and then Plug the other end of your HDMI cable into the "HDMI PS4" input on the back of the Processor Unit. THERE IS ONLY ONE HDMI SLOT ON THE PS4, any advice?
Yes, there is only one hdmi out from the PS4.
The processor unit is the small black box that comes with the PSVR.
There is an input on it marked "HDMI PS4" where the other end of the cable plugs in.
The quick set up instructions are pretty clear how to set things up.
Take 5, have a cup of coffee/tea/beverage of choice, then start over.
The instructions are also here https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/help-library/playstation-vr/getting-started/ps-vr--gettin...
I don't have any problems when I use my tv 50Hz but when I use my parents tv which is 60Hz the tv cuts out all the time. Checked all the cables millions of times. Its still fine on the head set but the tv is going nuts?
I also have some problems connecting my psoriasis to my Bravia tv. I switched cables just to eliminate a possible cause. What made the difference was how I selected the source. Instead of hdmi4 , where my PS4 is connected I selected Carlos hdmi and the scene select problem went away completely. However, I now have a problem with intermittent sound. My tv is connected to an external sound system. Any ideas?
I have the same problems, it said HDMI1 no signal, of courses three will be no signal because to connecting vr i have to disconnect the HDMI from PlayStation and connect to vr box, now what can i do@ixYi
So i was having the same issue with the no hdmi signal from the PU to the TV and also no signal from the PU to the head set.
After i was certain that the hdmi cables were working, everything properly connected, bought and returned a new head set and hooked up to different TVs.
There was only one common denominator.... THE PS4 PRO i just bought last month!
my fix: Buy a new playstation pro. (It worked) apparently there is some hardware issue with the ps4 pro.
I can only use VR playing normal games I put a VR game in and it switches to a black screen saying X-hdmi with a square if I eject the vr game then both TV and headset come back on ?????
