Hey guys,
Version 2.5 of the PS4 Media Player is released today to coincide with the release of PlayStation VR, and with it comes the ability to enjoy 360-degree images and videos captured with omnidirectional cameras on your PS VR headset.
To do this, when you're viewing a 360-degree image or video in the Media Player app (this must be in equirectangular file format), press the OPTIONS button on your DS4, then select [VR Mode].
Alongside this, version 2.5 of the PS4 Media Player now supports high-resolution audio (FLAC) playback.
You can find out more about Media Player v2.5 and 360-degree media over at the PlayStation Blog.
Thanks!
KG
Hello i wish to watch a mp4 3d film I legally own. Is this possible in psvr. It is on my gear vr.
Can't find the Vrideo app mentioned?
I live in England and i have had the media player for at least a year now, as for the update i downloaded it on Friday night when i got my VR.
@wysardHuh, were did you find it, might be looking in the wrong places.I got Littlstar but it has a bug they're fixing .Cant see Within or Vrideo.Still it's the only issue I have had.
@SKILLER-KILLER-Ahh has littlstar got a problem? thank lord i have been trying to sign in for ages. Also there is no content, only a few videos compared to their web site.
Plus the video quality is bad? thats prob as good as it gets i guess? when we get 4K 360 VR videos, thats when it'll be amazing! right now looks like its 360p, unless there is a setting i am missing?.....
@wysardGo to PS STORE, search and type in M. E. D. I. , then you will see it.
Have the Media player but wanted the Within and Vrideo apps mentioned in the Media Player article.
@SKILLER-KILLER-what quality should you download to watch 360 video please? As i downloaded a 1080P one and the quality was terrible!! unwatchable!! it was 360 but like 360P instead of 1080P, now i understand it shares this resolution between both eyes but can the PS4 accept higher rez than this?
The Media player apparently requires specific file type to give full 3D 360.think it's called Equitractoral (in the Media player description).Im not expecting too much from YouTube etc on the psvr.
@badmonk_ukSorry equirectangular
Hi FYI Just got a reply from the guys at Vrideo (App for 360 vids) Europe will get the app a week or so later than the USA so we may see it this week. Not sure what the quality
will be like and PSVR can't show 3D at the moment but...
@badmonk_uki don't think it will let me watch 2160p video so 1440p?
