System Software version 4.74 for the PlayStation 4 has been released today.
To update the System Software using your PS4 go to [Settings] > [System Software Update] and click 'Next' and then 'Update'.
If for any reason you cannot use your PS4 to download the update, it is also available to download and install using a computer and USB storage device. Please note it may take a short while for the page to be updated with the new version file.
Main features of version 4.74:
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You can also see tips in this thread for updating the System Software should you run into any issues.
Unable to DL on PS4. And the link to DL onto a computer is broken. What gives?

Tips to download the update can be found here
(full url again just incase link in OP don't work for you either).
Pleas excuse my using the reply function for this post, but it's the only way i can think of for some much needed advice for those running the Beta. . . . Turn off Automatic downloading of updates asap. Turn it off for all downloads, if you want to be extra careful. . . Many, many people have had Major problems, some very serious from what i've read, after ver 4.74 has been installed automaticaly, instead of Beta 5 ver 6. If this happens you will not have access to bug reporting, or the Beta software untill the next version arives. . . I hope this post helps save a wholw heap of grief. . . If i've done the wronb thing posting in this manner, i'm sorry. My only intention, is to be as helpful as possable. All my best to everyone@LordRoss
This has never happened before in beta testing of firmware, because the release of a new game has never been so poorly handled before. Whatever mistakes Bungie and PlayStation made in their QA testing of Destiny 2 have no doubt been identified, and steps taken to ensure they don't happen again. As far as anybody being "inconvenienced" by the automatic firmware download / update feature, well it's only a game. Hopefully new instructions are being drafted into the beta firmware manual. Turn off auto firmware update - which is a good idea anyway@Useless_At_It
So far so good , Destiny 2 no crashes but a lot of fan noise. So let's hope the crashes have been fixed
Now I can't play Destiny 2 with the 5.00 beta anymore...
If you update to 4.74 from 5.00 (beta 5), you will not be able to go back to 5.00 (beta 5).
You will however be able to go back to the beta once the version 5.00 (beta 6) is released.
Is there any news on a solution to getting Destiny 2 to work with beta update 5?@LordRoss
Hopefully this will address the memory loss caused by Destiny 2.
Was running PS4 firmware 5.00 beta 5 until this morning when I was forced to do a update to 4.74.
I now lost the beta 5 option and cannot seem to get it back. Tried using my redeem code again but it says it was already used.
Ho would I go about getting back to running the beta 5.00 firmware again.
Yes it does this. Version 5 is probably just round the corner.
You can rejoin the version 5.00 beta when 5.00 Beta 6 is out.@samsyd1
I was just sent the redeem code a few hours ago, and I redeemed it. But when I logged into WiFi on my PS4, it asked me to download 4.74. So I did that. When I tried to redeem it, I was met with the, you have the current update. Thought I had done something wrong. I tried using my redeem code again too, and got the same message as you. But I'm glad that it wasn't me that had messed something up lol.@samsyd1
Why would 4.74 kick us out in the first place? (Glad I was not alone)!
It doesn't kick you out if you don't update to 4.74, I'm still running 5.00 Beta 5@ellielove456
Couldn't this update have just been included with the full version of 5.0, instead of messing everyone around who is in the beta?
I've got to download this update, to then redownload the beta and then download the full version of 5.0.
What idiot thought this through? Better question, what idiot didn't think this through?
I don't think any updates were planned during 5.0 beta. But obviously something serious enough has arisen that they were willing to break the beta to get this update out.@Jacko_the_lad
Well I've had an e-mail saying not to install 4.74 if I want to avoid the limitations.
So it can't be that important.@TheStill
will it fix the shutting off issue with Darksiders 2 Deathinitive edition?
