PS4 System Software Update 5.55 [17/05/18]

Hi folks

System Software version 5.55 for the PlayStation 4 has been released today. This is a mandatory update and the following change will be made:

• This system software update improves system performance.

To update the System Software using your PS4 go to [Settings] > [System Software Update] and click 'Next' and then 'Update'.

If for any reason you cannot use your PS4 to download the update, it is also available to download and install using a computer and USB storage device. Please note it may take a short while for the page to be updated with the new version file.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You can also see tips in this thread for updating the System Software should you run into any issues.

i woke up to my ps4 and turned it on as you usually do and i checked for a update it gave me the option to press next and i have done this numerous times it says an error has occurred over 20 times i did this i just wanna use my ps4 and replies to help would be greatly appreciated

Delete the failed download notification message and try again.

The PS4's HDD may need re-formatting possibly with a PC.

A simple restart fixes the error :) it's happened to several of my friends already and it's a very quick fix

How do you delete the failed download message? Mine is doing the same thing.

Go to your notifications and delete the failed download .. Than click restart download

restarting my ps4 or deleting the download and re installing doesnt work for me, I dont mind deleting everything or even opening the ps4 and working on it as long as it will make it work, can someone provide instructions on what to do

Delete the failed download notification message/file and try again via System Settings then System Software Update.
