After the update (2.0) my ps4 lost his sound. No sound in menu, games and apps.

I was playing normally and turn off to lunch. After lunch I turn on and I saw the notice about update. I made, and since then no sound. Never, in the same tv and with the same hdmi cable, happened that.

This issue is currently under investigation

I've got the same problem. Before the firmware update, every thing was fine.

Now there is no sound what so ever.

 Run out of ideas now.

Same problem here, i use earphone plugged into my montor for sound and it has always worked fine untill this update, tried the same setup with my pc and the sound works fine. a little fix though is you can plug some earphones into your controller and go to settings > devices > audio devices and cahnge "output to headphones" to ALL Audio, this will output all sound to the earphones/headphones plugged into your controller. its not ideal but at least its somthing

hope this helps

Apparently if you change what hdmi port it's plugged into it'll work. Like I said in another thread i'm assuming you are all using hdmi 1 for your ps4. This port can also double up as a pc/dvi port and i'm assuming that's where the problem is coming from, only reason I can think that hdmi 2-4 (depending how many hdmi ports you have on your tv) work in resolving the problem

Really ?? Now i'm ******d. I see now that we are a very small amount of people for someone from sony support to care about. If no one is available to help us, at least give me MY MONEY BACK ! I live in Portugal, and in portuguese forums no one ever bother to reply to my help message. This is a JOKE.

Every week you came here and say sorry in behalf of sony (or not). Time has passed and i dont need no more sorry, the time for that as already passed. I need a fix, or a time limit for the fix, or a total refund.

My warany will expire on the 21 of December. If no one from sony  is going to public aknowledge or try to fix this problem, then show me how to send the console back, plus games i've bought, because i want all my money back.

I do work for a living and it was a personal sacrifice to bought this console, that is now a shinny concrete brick, thanks to the 2.0 update that i was forced to do to use PSN.

'Unfortunately I don't have any further updates at this time.'

In other words, Sony has no idea what's wrong with the console, even though IT'S THE HDMI HANDSHAKE!

And as such, most likely given up trying to fix it for a few weeks.

Sony, used to be for the players, now for the money to line their pockets. I was so happy getting my PS4 last year, now I wish I got a One instead, at least they can hear the sound of games!

I`ve just made a complaint to BBC watchdog and i suggest that everyone else does the same.No major sites are even talking about this so we have to make them do something.

I use hdmi2 and the sound works for about 20 minutes, then goes off. Switching the TV off and on restores the sound for gradually decreasing intervals.

Seems strange that it would be something so simple that's caused the problem if correct. If correct though it means that Sony haven't/aren't testing there updates connected to pc/dvi enabled hdmi ports or pc monitors

I made some tests here:

1) in the same tv (lg);
1.1) with different cable and same port = not work
1.2) with different cable and different port = not work
1.3) with same cable and different port = not work

2) another tv (lg too);
2.1) with another cable = worked
2.2) with same cable = worked

I saw a detail in video configuration. The resolution 1080p appeared with incompatible sign ( only in the original tv ).

My PS4 is also showing 720p, 1080i and 1080p unsupported after the update, although the picture is still in Full HD.

Also tried all HDMI ports with no success. I wonder how widespread this problem is.

I'm on a Samsung smart TV by the way.
