whats the reason for this game being £20 on the store?

Just wondering why the digital download of this game is more expensive than if i buy the physical version which is £17 on shopto, surely a digital version cuts down on most of the costs for packaging and shipping etc, so why would it cost more?

See locoroco on release was 20 eurs while in GR PSN is 29.

Burnout paradise was 70 euros in stores while 30 euros in PSN store...

Prices are wierd ^.^

well they're not going to sell many copies from the store if it's no cheaper than if you buy it with the box.

£17... £20

your still saving the effort of getting on your clothes, doing the hair, geting in car or bus, walking down the street, finding the best price, geting the game, geting back in car/bus making a cup of tea and then playing.

its a bargin!! and for the agoraphobics out there a pure bonus lol!!

you realise there are online stores yes?

i'd just like to know who decides on the prices of things.

Btw a whole section for Patapon seems a bit daft, there's like 5 topics.

Patapon deserves a section to itself. If Lair can have a forum, Patappon definately deserves one.

The reason it is £20 is so that people who don't want to search for prices or don't want to get a physical copy they can download it at a good, affordable price.

Seems to be daft still! The download is also more expensive than ordering it online with next day delivery.

Good affordable price? Not really, if a download without box, UMD and printed manual is more expensive than the retail version.  That does not seem a good affordable price to me at all.

I would not buy albums on iTunes if they carried the same price tag as the actual CD.

Maybe it's just me but I fully expect downloads to be less expensive than a boxed reatil version. No matter if it's software, music or video.

Sony can't be seen to compete on price with retailers, so they sell the downloadable version at the RRP.

As a result, I bought the physical version for EUR19.49 at Play, instead of the EUR29.99 for the PSN version; the PSN version would have to be considerably cheaper than the retail version for me to forgo box & manual (I _like_ having a physical copy on my shelf).

The main convenience you have with the PSN version is that it sits on your Memory Stick, so you can carry multiple games with you (one on UMD + any PSN versions you may have had). The drawback is that you cannot mix content from multiple PSN accounts (so you can't have both the EU Patapon 2 and some US/JP PSP Demo on the stick at the same time).

It used to be that I'd look at the PS store price and say "Sod that!" and get it on UMD, but now you have the rumours of UMD getting dropped from the next PSP. This is putting me off buying UMD games, leaving the PS store and the only choice and then I look at the price..... A vicious circle that is stopping me buying anything.

Currently playing Patapon 1 again!!
