So, for everyone who is looking for their old Singstar Songs to be unlocked on a new PS3 after their old one broke, it does actually work ,and the staff are really, really helpful! I know it's scattered information so I thought i'd make a thread about exactly what you need to do.

 

In the UK, call 0844 7360595

Press the option for PlayStation Network and you will be redirected.

 

Explain to the operator that you want to download your Singstar tracks onto a new PS3 as your old one broke. On the phone, I was asked for:

-my sign in name

-my sign in email address

-my date of birth

-my new playstation 3 serial number

 

and that's all! And, I got sent an email saying my system would be able to download the songs within 7 working days-they even called me back to say it was being processed!

 

So that's the process to do it, and may I just say, the customer service was absolutely phenomenol. It was outstanding-the guy on the phone was really polite, really helpful, and knew exactly what I was talking about-Sony PS3 customer support, be proud because you're really helpful!

I'm going to try this, but I have to say that I have little hope. In the US and experiencing a very similar situation: old PS3 broke, picked up a new one, songs are associated with the old device. Called twice before and wound up talking to people who gave me repetitive instructions about activating my system (uh...it's activated...of course...), seemed to audibly be scratching their heads and then told me they'd take my information and get back to me.  They did not, the songs are still not functional.

 

Like others on here, I'd imagine, this is massively frustrating. I don't have access to a couple hundred bucks worth of DLC at present. Anyone else had a similar experience with Playstation?  What gives?

 

Again, hoping this next call will work. Can't believe the process is this difficult...

Console deactivation like this is pointless. This does nothing to restore song download capability to a new PS3.

Then explain why it doesn't work. I'll be waiting. You can inform me of how I've not done something correctly. I've deactivated my previous, non-functioning PS3 so that the new PS3 can download the Singstar content we've purchased. Still no download ability. Not to mention that this should not be an issue to begin with since depending on date of purchase these should be downloadable on at least 2 PS3s and even up to 5 if purchased before a specific date. Sony sucks.

US Support refuses to do this for me.  I purchased two consoles and want to use SingStar on my other unit since it has a larger hard drive and is in the room I wish to use it on.  Not very nice....what are my options?

So I'm outside the USA and I want my USA account songs to be unlocked on my old console, what is the best way to do this? I did this a few years ago through email, but I don't think they do that anymore?!

 

Sooo I spoke with someone through the live chat and they said it is fixed, easy peasy

this is a lie! i'm sorry to sound harsh, but my PS3 broke and as a present i got a new one, and I did as you suggested, but they told me it is imposible to do so, i lost all the songs that i bought! it was more than 70 songs! i have to buy again the songs! is PS so poor that they are scaming people like this? i need help, guidance, $1,49 per song is no a cheap thing! at least for me! i love this game! and i think i won't play it again if they don't restore my songs... i mean... more than 70 songs! right now i feel robbed by PS....

Hi again, after spending 45 minutes in call, nothing, they won't help me to recover my songs, so between family and friends, they gathered money and bought me a lot of songs, that was nice.

now, i have a ps4pro and i am having the same problem, i called, explain the situation, and nothing, it is unbelievable! i want to smash every window that ps has.... i am so frustrated!

The online support is nothing more than a program.  It looks for key words and responds....so uing it for this issue is a complete waste of time.

Deactivation and Reactivation will also have no effect on restoring Singstar Songs.   

 

You HAVE to call support.  I am going through this right now....I did it once about 5 years ago, and can't recall, but I think they ended up putting me in touch with SingStar more directly for this fix, rather than the nomal Sony Help #.   

 

I am in Canada.

I'll post again if I figure out what I did the last time to correct this....but it is a huge pain in the ass especially after such a large investment in downloaded content.

I want to re-download my singstar songs onto a replacement PS3. I called Sony Australia. Thay said I am registered in the USA ?!?!? I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE to use Sony's chat facility. It doesnt work. So now what do I do.
