Yes, I have heard that about Universal.
Another question then: what does a SingStore download actually consist of? I mean, I'm currently thinking that it's not just a high quality .avi or .mpeg video clip of a song, but that it's some special format developed specifically for the game that embeds all the lyrics and pitch info in the file so all that info appears on-screen, as well as some sort of DRM that prevents it being played outside the game. If that's correct, then what do record labels have to worry about?
If I'm wrong, I'd love someone to correct me as I'm interested to know what's going on behind the scenes with SingStar songs.
You mean about licensing issues? If that's the case, why doesn't Sony wait until they've got a decent amount of songs ready for the SingStore before the releasing the PS2 disc?
because the PS2 version print money. Anyway you do know that SingStar PS3 will soon have a freature where you can "rip" the songs from the PS2 disk and play them on the PS3 version of sing star right?
At the moment only the disc swapping feature is what you'll get.
As MTV says, dont be fooled...
