So, I load up Singstar ready to show @THE_FORCE how to sing a song so well that it has the Lynx effect, only to find a number of issues that render my voice normal.
1. Latency of audio is ridonkulous
Really ruins the game :-( Guessing it'll have to be patched. i tried with both my TV speakers and my surround sound. It just doesn't work for me. Puts my voice half a second to 1 second out and changing latency has no effect.
2. The mics are too low volume
I crank the mic volume to the max and I can barely hear myself on the video replays any while playing
3. Microphones cut out
During play you can see your lips moving but audio cuts in and out
To me they are major issues as it sounds waaaaaay out of sync :-( Hope they can fix it soon.
All in all, a :-( experience. Nothing a few patches can fix though so hopefully we get one or three.
Same here. Doesn't matter if I use wireless microphones or the mic app. I think the volume issue is more annoying since it's impossible to use Singstar as a party game when no one hears the singing...
Having some of the same issues. Game functions fine during songs, but cannot hear my own voice at all, nor hear it at all in my saved videos, which makes uploading sort of pointless.
Hoping they patch this game up soon, it's a great game!
The latency on every recorded video performance is a real showstopper for me as well... I simply can't upload videos when my voice is fractions of a second out of sync with the video and the artist's voice. If I record the performance in an old, disc-based version of the game, everything is perfect.
Changing the TV latency setting doesn't affect this latency at all (rightfully so, it has nothing to do with it), neither does switching from wireless SingStar mics to wired ones or the microphone app, and there isn't any other option we can tune, so the fix has to come from London Studio.
Please, for the sake of those of us who don't want to upload a sub-par performance to the community hub, fix this in the next patch!
Oh, and doing something about the small skips in audio recording would help as well. Some info that might help: it only becomes noticable for me when the camera is connected to the PS3. It might be possible that the microphone built into the PlayStation Eye is interfering with the audio recording done by the SingStar wireless microphones.

Remedy: Sing louder! :^)
I'm so glad I found this thread. We are having the same issue, tried the wireless mic, the app and the audio is lowwwwwww.
No matter what I did or tried, nothing worked. To the DEVs, when do you anticipate a patch to address this issue? Thanks. Merry Holidays!
Yes, I have the same problem. I can not play this game if the timing isn't right. I hate this, but I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. So, I'd rather use my PS3 to play singstar :-(
Still rubbish even at back end of 2017..steer clear. Bag of ***** if u want to sound slightly good online. You still have to sing half a second before the song infuriating. Spend 500 to 600 quid if u don't believe me. F u singstar rot in hell
I hate u ps4 singstar u are broken. So angry you are releasing a new game. U guys suck so much . Loyal customer who's had songs (100 plus) robbed off them n then ur replays are miles out. Spent over 500 GBP. Never ever again. Please read and boycott a complete robbing bag of ....
Posting latency problems too?
As they don't seem to have admitted there is a problem does anyone know how I can return the game for a refund as the delay is so bad it's unplayable.
Hey I just recently noticed there is a way your vocal is not half a second off, when you listen to your recording. Before starting the song put audio output to bitstream dts, then start the song, then pause, go to sound settings put to dolby, then go back, resume song. Then go back again, put to linear and resume and sing. For me the delay is minimal that way and although it takes time almost a minute, its still better than half a second of lag.
Audio setting is optical for me and I use a soundbar, cos my home cinema system with optical adds to the delay. Soundbar delay is also minimal. Hope it works for all of you too, and you all can upload some new songs :).
The latency on PS3 is also a problem. Not in singing, cause I understand the process of voice analysis in real time and some lag involved within but... recordind a clip should be synchronised, and it can be done very easly, fast and cheap.
In order to selected latency from menu (mine is 120ms) it just be needed by Singstar to include it in records.
